KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS

  • Welcome to Room 40! 2023-2024

Hello! I have taught for over 35 years and Kindergarten is my favorite grade! As a Kindergarten teacher you "ignite" that initial spark for learning. I feel it is my responsibility to plant that seed, the desire to ask questions and want to know more or how or why? It is also the age where you get to see the "lights go on" when they write something and they can actually read it back to you. They are so excited they can barely contain themselves. Every time this happens it still gives me goose bumps! I really do love what I do. We do a lot of gardening and integrate technology into our classroom, such as using our Clever Class Page. Being at school with my class is my happy place! I look forward to seeing my class every morning!

Here is a little background information about me. I grew up in Sacramento. My father was a doctor, my mother a teacher.  I have an older sister and two younger brothers. I received my B.A. in Ethnic Studies from U.C. Berkeley (I come from a family of CAL Bears! GO BEARS!) and my teaching credential, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, from Sonoma State. I also have my CLAD. Before I became a teacher I was a clothing designer with my own label, kristianna.  As a child I always wanted to be a teacher.

I love to garden (at home and at school), work on my house, and enjoy the ocean. I am very interested in gardening, especially drought-tolerant natives and succulents. I also enjoy spending time with my son, Matt, 30. Matt is a biologist, loves the outdoors, and is an avid tennis player. Tacos, french bread, and Dim Sum are some of my favorite foods! My favorite color is blue. My life is full, but rewarding! Don't forget to click on Welcome to Rm 40 in the subheading above for more information and photos!

We can ALWAYS use vegetables/edibles, natives, perennials, drought-tolerant plants, bulbs and succulents for our garden! Seeds too!
